Abstract

This paper presents a new application of Lightning Attachment Procedure Optimization (LAPO) technique to solve the Optimal Reactive Power Dispatch (ORPD) problem which has more attention from power system operators especially under uncertainty case. The ORPD problem is solved with integration of the energy resources (wind and solar PV units) under uncertainties of system including the uncertainties of load demand and the renewable energy resources. LAPO technique is examined in IEEE 30-bus to solve the ORPD problem and assign the best locations and capacities of the renewable energy resources in power system for power loss minimization considering the uncertainties. The captured results prove that LAPO technique is a promising algorithm for solving the ORPD problem at normal state as well as in case of considering the uncertainties of load demands and RER.
