Abstract

Expert systems that plan protein purification can be used to provide practitioners with planning suggestions. It is sometimes difficult to model purification techniques well enough to create a complete plan before an experiment has started. Reactive planners that only plan a few steps at a time and which use intermediate results are alternatives that can be used in such cases. An implementation of a reactive planner for protein purification, in particular for chromatography, is described.
