Abstract

There is a close connection between the central nervous system and the immune system. This balance can be impaired in the presence of severe brain damage, i.e. in case of stroke. The consequences of stroke on the balance between these two systems are cerebral inflammation and immunosuppression. The aim of this study is to verify whether lymphopenia may represent a negative prognostic index of functional recovery in the Neurorehabilitative setting.
