Abstract

The heterophase LaB6-W2B5 composite with LaB6 content of 50 vol. % was fabricated by reactive hot pressing of the powder mixture of LaB6, W and amorphous boron at 1800 °C and 30 MPa for 15 min. The structure and phase composition of the synthesis products were analyzed by SEM, EDX and XRD methods. The effect of the pressure-induced anisotropic W2B5 grains growth was observed. The elastic modulus of composites investigated by resonance frequency method, and the Vickers hardness via indentation method.
