Abstract

Reactive distillation, i.e. the simultaneous implementation of reaction and distillation in a counter currently operated column, ia a promising alternative to the common sequential processes. In a preceding paper the effective phase equilibrium of a reactive distillation has been studied with a special focus on the determination of so-called reactive azeotropes. In this contribution knowledge of these thermodynamic fundamentals is applied to the conceptual design of reactive distillation processes. Furthermore, some process examples of technical importance are presented.
