Abstract

The hydrolysis of urea by urease, a model system for the reaction of enzymes with a low molecular weight substance capable of permeating ultrafiltration membranes without resistance, and the degradation of dextran by dextranase, a substance highly rejected by appropriate membranes, are described. The enzymes are covalently bonded to heterogeneous aminated polysulfone, using glutaraldehyde or diazo compounds as immobilization agents. Preliminary results are given.
