Abstract
Abstract Reactions of trans-[Co(en)2Cl2]Cl with N-phenylsalicylaldimine, N, N' -ethylenebis(salicylaldimine), N-(carboxy)methylsalicylaldimine, N-(2-hydroxy) phenylsalicylaldimine, dimethylglyoxime, 2,2′-bipyridyl and salicylaldehyde have been studied in ethanol or aqueous-ethanol and a series of mixed-ligand complexes of Co(III) of the type [Co(en)(SALAN)2]Cl 4H2O, [Co(en)(BSEN)]Cl, [Co (BSEN) (oap)], [Co(en)[SALGLY)Cl], [Co(BSEN)(H2O)2]Cl and [Co(en)2(L-L)]Cl3 (where L-L = dimethylglyoxime or 2, 2Ibipyridyl) have been isolated. The reactions of the complex [Co(BSEN)(H2O)2]Cl have been used to prepare many new mixed-ligand complexes of Co(III). The complexes have been characterised by elemental analysis, molar conductance, visible-uv and IR spectroscopies.
