Abstract

The composition of the products of the interaction of phosphorus(III) chlorides with carbonyl compounds and the pathways leading to their formation are analysed as a function of the structure of the initial reactants and the experimental conditions. The catalytic role in the primary processes of the admixture of hydrogen chloride in phosphorus(III) chlorides is discussed. The influence of the functional group in substituted aldehydes and ketones and of the third reactant on the course of the reactions and on the nature of the final product is demonstrated. The bibliography includes 231 references.
