Abstract
Processes for the formation of primary and secondary negative ions in the mass spectra of POF 3-SF 6 and PSF 3-SF 6 mixtures have been identified and studied. The principal ion-molecule reaction involves formation of the secondary ions POF 4 − and PSF 4 − by reactions of POF 3 and PSF 3 with SF 6 − at low electron energies. Rate constants and reaction cross sections were measured for the fluoride-ion transfer reactions. Charge exchange reactions producing “parent negative ions” were not observed.
