Abstract

Reactions of Cp(NAr)NbMe 2 with H 2 and HSiMe 2Cl are described. With H 2 (1 atm) an apparent σ-bond metathesis process is accompanied by reduction to form the binuclear, metal–metal bonded species [CpNb(μ-NAr)Me] 2 (NbNb=2.6852(4) Å). With HSiMe 2Cl (excess) Cp(NAr)NbMeCl is obtained in quantitative yield.
