Abstract

1. Depending on the ratio of the reagents and conditions of the reaction, the interaction of chloryl fluoride with antimony pentafluoride leads to the formation of ClO2SbF6 and ClO2Sb3F16, or a mixture of them. 2. Chloryl hexafluoroantimonate has mp 220–225° and decomposes above 300°. The compound ClO2Sb3F16 melts at 50–53° and begins to decompose above 200°. 3. There is no reaction between perchloryl fluoride and antimony pentafluoride up to 100° in the absence of solvent, nor up to 20° in sulfur dioxide solution.
