Abstract
Reaction of 2,3-dimethylindole and tetrahydrocarbazole with N-bromosuccimide in the presence of pyridine gave the corresponding pyridinium bromides (I and XI) which were condensed acetoacetic ester, benzoylacetic ester and malonic ester in the presence of potassium carbonate.
