Abstract

Relative differential cross sections have been measured for the 2H(d, p) 3H and 2H(d, n) 3He reactions from 70 keV ≦ E nd ≦ 150 keV with thin deuterated polyethylene foils on carbon in order to search for a resonance near the d-d threshold in 4He. The energy dependence of anisotropy coefficient fromm the expansion of the c.m. angular distributions in terms of even Legendre polynominals shows no resonance-like behaviour. The impotance of multiple scattering effects and energy loss on these coefficients is pointed out when thick targets are used.
