Abstract
The hydride complex [ReH 5(PMe 2Ph) 3] reacted with 2-mercaptopyridine (pySH) in the presence of HBF 4 giving [ReH(pyS)(PMe 2Ph) 4]BF 4 ( 1) and [ReHF(pyS) 2 (PMe 2Ph) 2]BF 4 ( 2). The X-ray structures of both complexes have been determined and are discussed. The known complex [ReH(pyS) 2(PPh 3) 2] and new [ReH(SipyS) 2(PPh 3 2] ( 3) have been prepared directly from [ReOCl 3(PPh 3) 2], NaBH 4 and the appropriate thiol. Analogous reaction of [ReOCl 3(dppe)] (dppe Ph 2PCH 2CH 2PPh 2) with pySH gave [ReH 4(pyS)(dppe)] ( 4).
