Abstract

Abstract Thiocarbohydrazide and 1,5-bisthiocarbohydrazones react with antimony(III) chloride in different molar ratios to yield additional complexes of the type Sb(I)Cl3, Sb(L)2Cl3, Sb(L')Cl3 and Sb(L')2Cl3, where L = thiocarbohydrazide and L' = 1,5-bisthiocarbohydrazones derived from 2-hydroxybenzal-dehyde, 4-hydroxy 3-methoxy benzaldehyde, 2-hydroxyphenyl-methylketone and 2,4-dihydroxyphenylmethylketone. These complexes which are yellowish to orange coloured solids and insoluble in benzene, are characterised by elemental analysis, infrared spectra and conductivity measurements which indicate that the ligands are coordinated in a bidentate manner to antimony in these complexes.
