Abstract

The reaction of transient terminal phosphinidene complexes [RP−W(CO)5] (R = Ph, Me) with (2-oxopropylidene)triphenylphosphorane in refluxing toluene yields the corresponding five-membered cyclic 1,2,5-oxadiphospholene complexes. An initial reaction at the carbonyl group is postulated. The X-ray crystal structure analysis of the phenyl derivative shows a planar ring with trans phenyl groups.
