Abstract

Arrhenius parameters were measured for the relative rate of attack of hydrogen atom on the primary and secondary C—H bonds of propane. The mercury photosensitization of hydrogen was used as the source of hydrogen atom and the abstraction reactions were monitored by the formation of isomeric hexanes.Detailed kinetic analysis was applied to assess the importance of secondary reactions.
