Abstract

Reaction of carbon monoxide with an aqueous perchloric acid solution of Rh 2(H 2O) 10 4+ produces initially a “Rh I(CO)” 2 species, which undergoes further reaction to give Rh 4(CO) 12 in 70–80% yield as well as some Rh 6(CO) 16. The reaction was studied at room temperature and atmospheric pressure of CO.
