Abstract
Tricarbonyl-η 5-pentadienylmanganese reacts with mercaptans RSH, R = Ph, C 6F 5, m-NH 2C 6H 4, p-NH 2C 6H 4, and HSCH 2CH 2 in the presence of ECH 2CH 2E, E = –PPh 2 or –NH 2 to give novel stable terminal thiolate mononuclear complexes fac-Mn(CO) 3(SR)(Ph 2PCH 2CH 2PPh 2-κ 2- P, P′) for R = Ph, C 6F 5, m-NH 2C 6H 4, p-NH 2C 6H 4, and HSCH 2CH 2 and fac-Mn(CO) 3(SR)(H 2NCH 2CH 2NH 2-κ 2- N, N′) for R = Ph and C 6F 5. Upon reaction of tricarbonyl-η 5-pentadienylmanganese with ethylenediamine a dinuclear complex [ fac-Mn(CO) 3(μ-H 2NCH 2CH 2NH-κ 2- N, N′)] 2 was formed wherein the diaminyl ligand functions in the capacity of chelating and bridging ligand.
