Abstract

Recently, permanent magnet type linear synchronous motors have been used as the driving source of transportation systems, to satisfy requirements such as speeding up of transportation systems and also to simplify maintenance. The authors' laboratory has proposed a stationary discontinuous armature PM-LSM in which the armature is engaged only when accelerated and decelerated operation is necessary, in order to resolve the problem of higher costs, when PM-LSM is used with long-distance transportation systems in factories. We have proposed and examined a constant load angle control without position feedback, to suppress the velocity ripple which occurs at the re-acceleration portion with the aim of maintaining smooth drive of the stationary discontinuous armature PM-LSM. As a result of the examination of the re-acceleration characteristics, we could confirm that a stable re-acceleration of the control is possible without position feedback. However, the effectiveness of constant load angle control without position feedback has not been confirmed. The purpose of this paper is to examine the effectiveness of constant load angle control without position feedback in stationary discontinuous armature PM-LSM. Reacceleration has been performed using velocity feedback control and the results have been compared in order to confirm the effectiveness of the constant load angle control without position feedback in Stationary discontinuous armature PM-LSM.
