Abstract
The authors show that the cervical root resorption is a risk of non-vital dental bleaching. The diffusion of the bleaching agent through the dentinal tubules up to the periodontal tissues seems to begin an inflammatory reac- tion, causing resorption of the root, being limited to the cervical area or comprising larger areas and, even causing the loss of the dental crown. The knowledge of the risk of cervical root resorption and the way to act in order to minimize it is essential before the execution of a non-vital dental bleaching treatment, being this the theme of the work. Key words: root resorp- tion, non-vital bleaching, inflam- matory resorption.
