Abstract

Land information systems are often placed on equal terms with advanced graphical systems. Geographical Information Systems (GIS) can be very suitable for the local authorities' service of citizens. The advantage of these help systems using basic registers is that the data necessary for obtaining benefits from the systems are already created, stored, and maintained by procedures laid down in connexion with the basic functions of the registers. The aim of this paper is, by giving some examples, to draw your attention to the fact that you should be aware of this opportunity and, perhaps, consider designing help systems operating on information already stored.
