However, I wish to zero in on just one point: the bane of our modern existence in the digital age, clinicians perched next to a PACS or network computer as they wait for results. The task force considered historical factors that influenced the evolution of current practice models and evaluated recent socioeconomic trends that will influence the future of radiology practices. His description is one that we suspect many will recognize as similar to their own situations. Although his is a medium-sized group in a suburban environment, the same issues challenge radiologists in small groups in sparsely populated areas and large groups in dense urban settings.
