Abstract
We are interested to expand on the key premise in the article “Strength in Numbers: National Practice Radiology Versus Academic Radiology.” The perspective that national radiology practice groups primarily funded by private equity may replace traditional private practice and compete with scaled academic centers creates a false dichotomy while asserting that consolidated national practices have advantages not available to private practice. Practices can grow and remain 100% physician-owned while achieving the benefits of scale described without sacrificing physician autonomy and ownership.
