Abstract

Abstract. In order to obtain plasma with a high titre of incomplete antibodies suitable for fractionation into anti‐D immunoglobulin, 107 sensitized women older than 40 years, with different erythrocyte antigen types, received 192 booster injections. The maximum response was detected when they were injected with cells of their husband or child, lower results were achieved with cells of donors of the genotype cDE/cde, and still lower when injected with cells of donors CDe/cde. Complete antibodies appeared in 30% of the cases, 10% of them appeared for the first time. Anti‐C, ‐E and‐G agglutinins appeared approximately in the same percentage. Two weeks after the inoculation, 45% of the sera were suitable for the preparation of IgG, after 3 months the level fell to 31%, and after 6 months it was only 10%. The plasmaphereses were done in the optimum period. The second and the third immunizations were made only on a small number of women.
