Abstract

In repeated trials on the retention of inoculativity of green peach aphids, Myzus persicae (Sulzer), transmitting the beet yellows virus under conditions of postacquisition fasting as well as postacquisition feeding, fasted aphids maintained their inoculativity over the intervals of time tested (maximum of 12 hours) at a level equal to or superior to those having access to an intermediate host plant.
