ROBERT H. GORE 288-2 Winner Circle, Naples, Florida 33942, U.S.A. (Accepted30 October 1987) On the basis of a re-examination of all available data concerning the systematic position and status of the genu Eumedonuss and allied genera it is concluded that these taxa form a separate family within the superfamily Xanthoidea (sensu Guinot, 1978).
