Abstract

This paper describes the possibility of improving the detecting systems of the ARL Chemical Analyser 33000 from a sequential to a multichannel simultaneous direct reading spectrometer. The time required to analyse a large Number of elements will be much shorter than with a sequential instrument (with the necessary changes of the electronics). There is no need for a source with long term stability. When the analytical programme is altered the necessary alignments of the photomultiplier tube assemblies or the UV light conductor heads can be done with ease and with considerable rapidity. The required modifications are simple and inexpensive and can be done in a small workshop.
