Abstract

Summary The poorly known marine amoeba — Thecamoeba munda Schaeffer, 1926 (Gymnamoebia, Thecamoebidae) was found in the Sound (Baltic Sea). This species was initially described by A.A. Schaeffer in 1926 and since this time was not studied and re-described in terms of modern sytematics of gymnamoebae. Multiple photographs and a detailed re-description with re-diagnosis of T. munda are presented. The cell surface of this species is very similar to that of T. orbis — another marine Thecamoeba.
