Abstract

Paraulacus sinicusPing, 1928 was originally assigned to Aulacidae (Hymenoptera, Evanioidea), later transferred to Mesoserphidae (Hymenoptera, Proctotrupoidea), and even considered as order incertae sedis in the infraclass Neoptera. Re-description of the holotype indicates that the species should be attributed to either Mesoserphidae or Roproniidae in the Proctotrupoidea, a superfamily of parasitoid wasps. The species is considered to have been collected from the Middle Jurassic Haifanggou Formation and not from the Lower Cretaceous as in the original description.
