Abstract
Many people have compared their results of dynamic stress intensity factors with that of Chen. However, there are still some unclear points in Chen's work. In this paper, we consider Chen's problem again by a finite difference method (conservation form). It is found that there are three incoming waves formed by impact, each of which consists of two δ -periods. Based on this analysis, some new explanations to Chen's problem are found.
