Abstract

Privacy attacks are one of the important security issues in ad hoc networks. Privacy can be divided into two types: identity anonymity and location privacy. Identity anonymity has been addressed in many MANET routing protocols while location privacy still requires appropriate solutions. Even in ID anonymous routing protocols, a strong enough traffic analyser can track the nodes’ locations in active routes (Wang and Hu, 2005). If he discovers his favourite information about the location of network elements, he might be able to damage the communication that the network was designed for. The adversary could infer such information by tracing some message flows to discover their origin using an appropriate set of directional antennas. In this paper, we will propose a solution to achieve the destination’s location privacy against a global eavesdropper. We use privacy analysis and simulation to study the anonymity and the routing performance of the proposed approach.
