Abstract

The article highlights the relationship between the symbolic configurations of two radio stations that acted as “rock stations” in Rio de Janeiro in two distinct moments and the characteristics of their insertions as agents of the musical market. Using the same label and searching for a similar public, Fluminense FM , in the eighties, and Radio Cidade , in the beginning of this century, established two models of acting on the radio and musical markets that would be very important for the level of autonomy that they would obtain in relation to other agents. Analyzing some of the specificities of the models and strategies used by these radio stations, this work proposes a discussion that relates the musical radio station and the process of public concession of the broadcasting mass media. Keywords: FM radio station, musical genre, public concession.
