Abstract

The radar cross section (RCS) can be reduced by the combination of perfect electric conductor (PEC) and artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) cells, due to the 180° of phase shift created between reflected waves in both kinds of surfaces. The 180° phase delay is translated in a destructive interference that reduces the reflected power in the specular direction. A theoretical model based on array theory is presented and compared with simulated results obtained with the commercial software HFSS and the measurements realized to a breadboarded structure. Good agreement between simulations and measurements has been obtained. (4 pages)
