Abstract

This chapter reports the reliability centered maintenance (RCM) implementation in power generation units for addressing issues like downtime and poor availability as a case study. In this work Pareto analysis was used to prioritize component failures. The water wall tubes (one of the highest priority components) have been maintained according to RCM policy. The results of the study suggest that the percentage reduction in outage hours of water wall tubes was 30.04%. Structural decision logics based on failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) have been designed for the most critical component. The extra revenue earned with enhanced availability is USD 2.7 million per annum.
