Abstract
Guaranteeing security is one of the most important promises made by the state to its citizens and, moreover, a decisive economic and location factor - especially for a region like the Ruhrgebiet, which, in addition to industry, is characterized above all by a high population density and cultural diversity. However, the role of the actors responsible for internal security and order is changing. The anthology takes a look at the field of tension between public and private actors: What can the security authorities achieve, where are private providers needed? What are the challenges? And what role do security-related phenomena such as data security, cybercrime and white-collar crime play?
