Abstract

Failure of a BOG re-liquefaction system of a floating LNG power plant can cause accidents such as fire or explosion. To prevent the failure of the BOG re-liquefaction system, operators have to maintain the system in correct maintenance methods. However, it is not easy to decide appropriate maintenance methods. Operators need to find the methods to minimize the amount of damage caused by the failure while considering of economic feasibility. To this end, systematic things must be in place to help the operators make appropriate decisions. In this paper, we developed a decision making assistance system for the BOG re-liquefaction system using risk based maintenance methodology. The developed system estimated risk of equipment in consideration of failure rate and severity of the equipment failure. Afterwards, the developed system found maintenance methods that can minimize damage caused by the equipment failure. Finally, after economic evaluation, the developed system proposed the maintenance methods to operators.
