Abstract
A ’’thin-layer approximation’’ is developed to complement Plesset and Whipple’s [M. S. Plesset and C. G. Whipple, Phys. Fluids 17, 1 (1974)] approximate analysis. Observations of instability of very thin layers reveal that the influence of molecular diffusion may be appreciable.
