Abstract

The Rayleigh scattering of57Fe 14.4 keV Mossbauer radiation has been measured for a silicon copolymer with rubbery properties. Elastic- and inelastic-scattering intensities have been measured as functions of the scattering vector and temperature. From these data a glass transition temperature has been determined (T G=240 K). AboveT G the mean atomic displacement rapidly increases due to the onset of conformational motions. Diffusive motions have not been observed. The transition to the crystalline state has been detected atT=208 K.
