Rationalization in Operation of Manganese Flotation at Ohe mill

Abstract

Ohe mill has been engaged in flotation without previous desliming of manganese ore since 1962, and has made greatifying achivement, increasing the manganese recovery by 10%. Some of the most important of these is as follows.(1) Work index and flotation rate are estimated by laboratory test on some of manganese ore which classified in associated gangue minerals or occurrence state, and are used for controling feed ore.(2) The Conditioning time in manganese flotation is important factor, the prolongation of that time rise the recovery. In June 1962, the conditioning time was decided to prolong from 15 to 60 minute in order to treat the slime.(3) In February 1964, all slime flotation was successfuly carried out by using Separan and Oleic acid emulsion which is prepared by emulsifying oleic acid in water by means of Liponox.The effect of Separan is remarkable for the promotion of the adsorption of oleic acid on the manganese mineral surface.
