Abstract

With the development of computer big data technology, people’s needs for smart cities are gradually increasing. The construction of smart cities should not only give ”smart” the things in the city, but also pay attention to improving the quality of the people in the city. This article uses the research object of the smart city construction model to study the advantages of smart city construction based on big data and rational planning theory and its impact on people’s lives. This article differs from previous qualitative research on smart cities, from the perspective of quantitative research based on the dual difference method to assess whether smart cities can provide a new impetus to economic growth. The results of the research show that the construction of smart cities can significantly promote regional economic growth and the DID rate is stable between 0.054–0.059 and the construction of smart cities can promote regional economic growth by 5.4% to 5.9%. Improving the efficiency of urban enterprises, thus leading to regional economic development. Building a smart city requires residents to be able to live independently, seek development, serve others and serve society using media and information technology. There is a link between promoting the construction of smart cities and improving the media literacy of residents. Improving media information literacy of residents will help fully unleash the vitality of smart city construction. • With the development of Internet technology, mankind has gradually entered the era of big data. Economic production and social life are closely integrated with digital technology. This phenomenon is particularly prominent in cities. The combination of cities and big data has produced the concept of smart cities. The construction of smart cities must not only endow the city with “smart” things, but also pay attention to improving the quality of urban people. • This article takes the smart city construction model as the research object, and studies the advantages of smart city construction and its impact on people’s lives based on big data and rational planning theory. Different from the previous qualitative research on smart cities, this article evaluates whether smart cities can provide new impetus for economic growth from the perspective of quantitative research based on the dual difference method. • The research results show that the construction of smart cities can improve the efficiency of urban enterprises, thereby promoting regional economic development. Use modern information technology to reduce the burden on cities, solve urban development difficulties, and enhance urban development vitality, thereby improving the level and quality of urban development and achieving sustainable urban development. At the same time, the construction of smart cities requires residents to be able to use media and information technology to live independently, which also promotes the connection between smart city construction and improving residents’ media literacy, and will help fully release the vitality of smart city construction.
