Abstract
AbstractThe coordination geometry of silver complexes of the green fluorescence protein chromophore is highly diverse and dependent on the size and shape of the counteranion in the complexes. Only complexes that have vacancies at the silver atom prove to be heterogeneous catalysts in the “green” synthesis of 1,4‐benzodioxines. The results reveal an interesting strategy of exploiting crystal packing forces to enhance catalytic efficiency by just changing the counteranion.
