Abstract

This chapter is a comprehensive reference manual providing information on the Rating Scale of Attentional Behaviour (RSAB), which is an observational rating scale designed for clinicians to assess attentional difficulties in the day-today therapy setting. Development of the RSAB arose from the authors’ work in evaluating a therapeutic intervention for attentional dysfunction in people with traumatic brain injury. The RSAB fulfils the authors’ aims of developing a scale tapping into theoretical constructs, while at the same time producing a practical and clinically meaningful tool. The RSAB is an observational rating scale designed for clinicians to assess attentional difficulties in the day-today therapy setting. A brief history of the instrument's development is provided, along with a description of item content and administration/scoring procedures. Psychometric properties are reviewed and a critical commentary is provided. Key references are cited and in most cases the actual scale is included, giving the reader easy access to the instrument.
