Abstract

It was shown that 2-thio-6-aminouracil (TAU) is an inhibitor of the radical-chain oxidation of ethylbenzene and methyl oleate. The reactivity of structurally different peroxyl radicals toward TAU was compared. The rate constants of these reactions decreased in the order 1,4-dioxane peroxyl radical, ethylbenzene peroxyl radical, and methyl oleate peroxyl radical (k7 × 104 = 30, 5.2, and 2.0 L mol–1 s–1, respectively, at 333 K). The reason for the decrease in the reactivity of ethylbenzene and methyl oleate peroxyl radicals was suggested.
