Abstract
The study aims to develop diagnostic tools to improve the basic speaking skills of college students. To this end, the definition and components of the basic speaking capabilities of university students were extracted, and the diagnostic tools were developed and verified. First, the verification method was to use the Winstep program to analyze the Rasch model to verify the question compatibility. Second, factor analysis was performed using SPSS2.5 to construct factors in the diagnostic tool. Third, the model suitability was analyzed using AMOS 25 to analyze the confirmative factors of the structural equation model. Studies have shown that the components of the basic speaking ability of university students are logical composition , fluency and audience interaction . Among them, logical composition was a linguistic component, while fluency and audience interaction were nonverbal components. Audience interactions have been classified as visual elements in existing studies, but in this study, audience interactions consist of one factor. This study is meaningful in developing basic speaking skills diagnostic tools for university students, identifying the importance of audience interaction, and confirming that self-reporting diagnosis is internal and non-cognitive.
