Abstract

Bistetrazole energetic supramolecular complex, [Er2(BTO)3(H2O)8]n [H2BTO = 5,5′-bistetrazole-1,1′-diolate], was synthesized by hydrothermal method. Its structure was characterized by single crystal X-ray, infrared spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Thermal stability was determined by differential scanning calorimetry, and thermogravimetry. The single-crystal X-ray results showed that the supramolecular complex exhibited a three-dimensional structure and high density (2.615 g cm−3). The results about thermal stability study of the supramolecular complex showed its attractive thermal stability and decomposition peak temperature at 556 K. Thermal decomposition kinetic parameters were studied by Kissinger and Ozawa-Doyle methods with the values of Ea (the average of Ek and Eo) are 95.22 and 117.41 kJ mol−1, respectively. Moreover, the supramolecular complex exhibited outstanding catalytic performance for ammonium perchlorate (AP). When the supramolecular complex was added in 10 wt% amount, the high-temperature decomposition peak of AP was advanced by 73 K, and the thermal decomposition reaction considerably increased.
