Abstract

Intramedullary interlocking nailing in compound fracture humerus is one of the method to stabilize the fracture. Retrograde nailing has the advantage over antegrade nailing with less chances of shoulder problem.2,5,9 Breakage of nail is one of the complications of interlocking nail.3 We could not locate any case showing breaking of nail while inserting. All complications were in postoperative period. In the present case not only the breaking of nail tip while inserting was rare but still rare was the bypassing of the rest of the nail through the fracture site. Since the nail was unreamed the guidewire was not used. Rare presentation of breakage of tip of unreamed intramedullary nail and bypassing of rest of nail by its side during insertion
