Abstract
The formation of oxide layers at low temperatures in the range of tens to hundreds of Å can conveniently be measured by following the release of radioactive rare gas which is introduced into the metal before oxidation by ion bombardment in the keV-energy region. Data are given for 5 metals in the temperature range of 150–600°C and oxidation kinetics are deduced.
