Abstract
The hydatid cyst is a parasitosis caused by the development of the larval form of Echinococcus. It is a mild disease. However, many potential complications such as rupture into the abdominal cavity, peritoneal seeding, and portal vein involvement may occur. The most common and serious complication is represented by the fistulization of the cyst in the bile ducts. It represents between 20 and 40% of operated hydatid cysts (J Chir (Paris) 141(6):381–389, 2004). The opening in the gall bladder is an exceptional evolution (J Chir (Paris) 128:133–138, 1991; Indian J Gastroenterol 23:76–77, 2004). Some cases have been reported in the literature. Our article describes this complication in a 26-year-old patient.
