Abstract
Synopsis A suite of rare earth element bearing minerals has been identified from miarolitic cavities in the northern Arran granite. This is the first occurrence in the British Isles of in situ fergusonite and gadolinite to be confirmed by X-ray analysis. The presence of these minerals reflects the enrichment of rare earth elements in the highly fractionated granites in the southern sector of the British Tertiary Igneous Province.
